Good Morning Parents of Mondovi Elementary Students, I hope that you all had a safe and happy holiday season. Next Monday, January 11 students will be returning to face to face instruction. They have been virtual since early-mid November (depending on the grade), and we are really excited for them to return! If you would like to bring some of their virtual learning materials back early, we will have a return drop off this Friday, January 8 from noon until 4:00 PM. The entrances will be staffed and we are asking that you please have their items bagged up and labeled with their name, grade, and teacher. 4K and 5K families can bring items back to door 28. These are the doors at the end of their hallway that face the tennis courts. 1st and 2nd grade can return their items to door 29, the main elementary entrance located next to the office on Mill Street. 3rd-5th grade can return their items to door 31, the entrance at the end of their hallway and to the east of the main entrance on Mill Street. If you can’t make that day work to return some of their items, it is OK. We just thought that it might help to lighten the load for students when they return on the 11th. Thank you and we look forward to seeing the students again next Monday! Paul Franzwa

We are beginning to plan for our return to face to face instruction which will now be Monday, January 11. One thing that will be different since the last time we were face to face is that we will now have our students attend their specials (art, music, PE, and IMC) in the specialist classrooms. Please know that we will continue to take several measures to ensure that your child will be safe here at school. We would like to know which students are planning to continue with virtual learning once we return. Once your decision is made about continuing with virtual or coming back for face to face instruction, we are asking that you stick with it and avoid making a change. Please contact the elementary office by the end of the day on Monday, January 4 if you plan to continue with virtual instruction on January 11. Paul Franzwa (email) pfranzwa@mondovi.k12.wi.us Leah Bursaw (email) lbursaw@mondovi.k12.wi.us or by phone: 715-926-3645 You do not need to contact us if you are planning to return for face to face. Dear Parents/Guardians, We have scheduled Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences for Tuesday, December 8 and Thursday, December 10. The conferences will be from 4:30-8:00 PM, and your child’s teacher should be contacting you soon about scheduling a 20 minute appointment with them. We will be offering conferences over zoom. Zoom allows for a live meeting between the parents and teacher. It also allows for parents to call in if they can’t do a live zoom meeting. When your child’s teacher contacts you, they will be asking the type of meeting you would prefer (live or phone). If you choose phone, they will need to provide you with some additional information allowing you to be able to join at the scheduled meeting time. If you choose live, you will receive a link that you can click to join the meeting at your scheduled time. If you would like to schedule a time to meet with one of your child’s specialists teachers (Art, Music, PE, IMC, and Guidance), you can email them to set up a time. They will also be conducting their conferences over zoom and will be providing both the live and phone options as well. Here are the specialists emails: Mrs. Kees, 5K-5th grade Art, lkees@mondovi.k12.wi.us Mrs. Kurth, 5K-5th grade Music, dkurth@mondovi.k12.wi.us Ms. Kinne, 5K-5th grade IMC, mkinne@mondovi.k12.wi.us Mrs Erickson, 5K-5th grade Guidance, ferickson@mondovi.k12.wi.us Mr. Bielmeier, 5K-2nd grade PE, pbielmeier@mondovi.k12.wi.us Mr. Seyforth, 3rd-5th grade PE, mseyforth@mondovi.k12.wi.us If you are unable to email the specialists to set up an appointment, you can also call Leah in the elementary office and set up a time. Office hours are from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, and the phone number is (715) 926-3645. We look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or call the office if you have any other questions regarding P-T conferences. Thank you- Mr. Franzwa

Parents/Guardians, I would like to share some information with you regarding our plan for educating your child for the next two months. Please let us know if you have any questions. We are here to help. Mr. Franzwa Virtual materials for your child can be picked up on Friday, November 13 between 12:00 and 4:00 PM. Please reference my earlier communication about where you should go to pick up virtual materials depending on your child’s grade level. Our next pick up/drop off date will be Friday, December 4. If everything goes well this Friday, we will run it the same way that day. I will send something out again prior to December 4. Student schedule - Starting Monday, November 16 students should either be receiving their instruction virtually through google classroom and zoom, or from a paper packet. Virtual - Our “live” virtual schedule is Monday - Thursday from 8:00 AM until sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 PM depending on the grade. Some grade levels have scheduled a student break into their day, and lunch for all grades is at 11:30. From 1:00 PM until 3:30, students can watch pre-recorded lessons and work on their assignments. The number of pre-recorded lessons will depend on their grade level. Some examples of pre-recorded lessons include: science or social studies, number corner, and the designated special (art, music, PE, IMC, or guidance) for that day. Students and/or parents can also contact their teacher if they have questions on any of the lessons or assigned work. Paper packet - students that choose this option will have the freedom to complete their work in any order that they choose. They will be responsible for the same content, but the lessons may be a little different. These students and their families can also contact their child’s teacher between the hours of 1:00 and 3:30 if they have questions. Pre-recorded lessons - if a student chooses the virtual option and they have a schedule conflict one day, they will always have the option to log in to their grade level google classroom page and watch the pre-recorded lessons for that day. A more detailed schedule of your child’s day will be included in the material sent home this Friday, November 13. Fridays - Students will still have academic responsibilities on Fridays, but therel will be no “live” lessons from their teacher. There may be pre-recorded lessons for the students to watch, and other independent work that has been assigned to them. Staff would still be available if students or parents should need to contact them with questions. Attendance will be taken daily for our virtual learners. We will take attendance based on the completion of assigned work for students that choose the paper packet option. It will be the same for the students that can only watch the pre-recorded lessons after 1:00 PM. If you know in advance that your child needs to be absent one day, please continue to contact the elementary office so they can be excused. Quarantined students should continue with their learning unless they are sick. Breakfast/lunch - The district has sent out a survey and will be continuing to offer meals in the same fashion that we did last spring. If you are ever in need of a resource or additional materials, we can include it in the meal delivery to your home on a particular day.

Elementary virtual material pick up information- This Friday, November 13 from noon until 4:00 PM, parents can stop by the elementary school and pick up their child’s virtual materials. The plan is to give your child enough material to last until Friday, December 4th. We will be doing things a little different for this pick up than we have in the past. If you plan on driving into school, you will have to find an area to park and walk to the designated entrance for your child. Please make sure that you (and anyone else that is with you) wear a mask, and respectfully distance from families that may be in line ahead of you. Here are the locations for each grade level: The EC/4K pick up location will be at door number 28. These are the doors at the end of their hallway that face the tennis courts. The 5K pick up location will be at door number 29. This is the main entrance into the elementary and is located right next to the office on Mill Street. The 1st grade pick up location will be at door number 27. These are the doors that the students use to go in and out for recess. Parents will have to park in the new bus drive, walk through a gate, and then walk across the blacktop area of our playground to get to this door. The 2nd grade pick up location will be at door number 26. This is the door located at the end of their hallway. Parents should drive back between the pool and the elementary playground, park alongside the fence boarding the playground, and walk up to door number 26. The 3rd grade pick up location will be at door number 24. Third grade parents should drive back between the pool and the elementary playground and head towards the greenhouse. You should see door number 24 on your right. Find an area to park your vehicle and walk up to door number 24. This might be the most challenging area for parents and so I apologize in advance. The 4th grade pick up location will be at door number 31. This is the entrance at the end of their hallway located on Mill Street. The 5th grade pick up location will be at door number 33. This is the entrance between the new loading dock and new art room. Parents, please park your vehicle alongside the cafeteria on Mill Street and walk up to that door.

Parents of elementary aged students, School pictures will be arriving tomorrow, Wednesday, November 11. We will plan to hand them out during our student material pick-up on Friday, November 13. We will be sending out another message soon to families that includes the times and locations for those pick-ups. If your child didn’t have their picture taken, or if you would like re-takes, we have scheduled retakes for Wednesday, December 16th. We are planning to begin with an 8:00 AM - noon re-take schedule. If there is a need, we would extend it further into the day. Re-take pictures would not be available until sometime in January, 2021. Parents can contact Leah Bursaw in the elementary office (715-926-3645) to sign their child up for a 10 minute re-take appointment. You will have until Friday, December 4th to schedule an appointment. One parent will be allowed to come into the building with their child. I will share more details at a later date with the families that have signed up for re-takes. Thanks- Mr. Franzwa

As we approach the end of our reopening window (9/1 - 10/30), I would like to inform you of a few changes that we are planning for with our in-person learning starting on Monday, Nov. 2. 1. We are planning to maintain our cohort model, but we will be re-implementing the traditional model of specials (art, music, PE) back into the schedule. 2. All students will be dismissed at the same time and we will only offer the 3:30 bus route. If your child currently goes home at 2:30, and their destination will change due to the 3:30 dismissal for all students, please contact the elementary office (715) 926-3645. 3. The after-school homework club will no longer be offered. If your child is currently receiving their education remotely, please call the office by Friday, October 23. At that time we would like you to let us know if your child will continue with remote learning, or if they will return for in-person learning on November 2nd. The phone number is (715) 926-3645. We have also been working on a separate plan in the event that we need to transition to 100% remote learning at any time. The district would provide chromebooks to all elementary students, and is prepared to accommodate families with internet connectivity issues. There would be a two day buffer of no school before starting the 100% remote schedule to allow staff and families the opportunity to get everything prepared, dispersed, and collected.

Dear Students, Parents and Mondovi Community Members, Due to some recent events at the Volleyball match at Durand, our spectators and athletes have unfortunately been labeled in a negative way as to their conduct and sportsmanship. It was reported that spectators were not sitting in their family unit or physically distancing in bleachers and facial coverings not being worn or worn incorrectly. At a meeting of the conference schools today, many are reluctant to allow their various teams to compete with Mondovi. Tonight's home VB event vs Durand is in jeopardy of not taking place. This will depend upon the decision made by the Durand school officials. Whether you support the wearing of facial coverings and physical distancing or not, it must be respected and complied with if we are going to continue to provide our students with opportunities to compete against other schools. We MUST take action immediately to correct this. I fear that even one more evening similar to Tuesday night could drastically impact our students ability to participate in the activities they love. It is of the utmost importance that our spectators follow the guidelines below: 1. Each athlete and coach will be provided four wristbands that they can decide who gets one for each game. The wristband will be your admittance to the game and only those with a wristband will be allowed in at each game. 2. Those in attendance should wear facial coverings as stated in any state, county, or district mandate, based on if the event is indoors or outdoors. This means it is worn appropriately - covering both the nose and the mouth. 3. We ask that all families sit together with those in their household and physically distance from those in other households. 4. Each participating team will have their own seating section and we ask that you sit in those defined areas. 5. We are asking that all fans arrive as close as possible to the event start time of the athlete who provided them their wristband. 6. Upon completion of your event, we ask that all fans leave the location of the competition, not to congregate, and allow space for those that are watching the next event to enter the facility. The wristbands are not transferable between events. Because of the swapping of wristbands that took place at the Durand VB game, the 4 or less guests per athlete must arrive at the same time to the event, wearing the wristbands and with a piece of paper that has the athlete's name on it as well as the guests in attendance. We will be collecting the paper at the door to help with contact tracing if it is found, after the fact, that there was one or more positive covid cases at the event. 7. By agreeing to the use of the wristband, the user is agreeing to abide by all state, county, and host district protocols or mandates related to facial coverings and physical distancing. If you are unable to abide by the protocols we ask for you to not attend the event and instead watch the event via live-stream. There is no student section. Students are to sit with their family and distance themselves from other family groups(#3 above). If you find that you are the only member of your family at the event, you are to distance yourself from others. Again, due to the events at Durand, there is a real possibility that conference schools may decide to not allow their student athletes to participate in events with Mondovi athletics/activities. PLEASE talk with your family members and children about this issue. We need to check our feelings and personal thoughts about the issue at the door. If we don't, our students will be the ones that suffer the outcome. Thank you, -- Jeffrey J. Rykal Mondovi High School Principal jrykal@mondovi.k12.wi.us (715)926-3684 ext. 1377

Reminder to all parents that tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2, 2020, is the first early release day for Elementary, Middle School, and High School Students. They will be released to go home/ride the bus at 3:09 PM rather than 3:30 PM. The 2:30 bus for elementary school students will still run at 2:30 PM. Early release happens each Wednesday. The early release time allows for staff to collaborate with each other and continue to move our district forward.

Information for parents - elementary only Students should not be dropped off at school before 7:50 AM. The doors will open at 7:50 AM and there will be no outside supervision until then. Instruction starts at 8:20 AM. Students arriving after that will be marked tardy. Students will be allowed to bring in a lunch that requires a microwave, but only in 3rd-5th (Not 5K-2nd). Teacher notification letters will be sent out in the mail on Monday, August 24. You should receive them by mid-week. Please let the office know if you haven’t received yours by the end of the week. Open House was originally scheduled for Tuesday, September 1st, but is now canceled. Parents will be receiving a short video or a document with information that was typically shared at Open House from their child’s grade level cohort team. You should receive this information sometime on Friday, August 28th. I will send it to your email through our Infinite Campus instant messenger. If your email is not in Infinite Campus, please contact Leah in the Elementary Office (via email lbursaw@mondovi.k12.wi.us or phone 715-926-3645). EC/4K Open House - we are planning an Open House for EC/4K students on Tuesday, September 1st - Thursday, September 3rd. There will be scheduled times for each family. We are planning to email out a sign up sheet to all the parents that have provided their email. The EC/4K teachers will contact anyone that hasn’t signed up by August 31st to schedule a time. Some parents have been asking what homework club will look like. The current plan is to give the students sometime for a movement break, snack break (provide your own), and some academic time. Students that will be pick up at 2:30, 3:30, or 4:15 will be out on school side of Mill Street. There will be adult supervision out there with the students. We will have a 5K-2nd grade designated area (starting at door #29 and going west until the entrance to the new bus drive) and a 3rd-5th grade designated area (starting at the new loading dock area and going west until the little buffalo). Just a reminder that there are no visitors allowed in the school at this time. That includes student drop off and pick up times. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Hello Everyone- I hope that you are all doing well and getting ready for the start of the school year.  Today we wrapped up with summer school and everything went very well.  I would like to take this opportunity to update you all on a few items: You should have received the 20-21 reopening survey today.  Please fill one of them out for each of your children by Tuesday August 18th. The Color Run that was scheduled for Friday, Sept 4th has been canceled.  The PTA will be sending out some more information on this soon. Our traditional Back to School Open House that was scheduled for Tuesday, September 1st has also been canceled.  Instead of Open House, Tuesday, Sept. 1 will be the first face-to-face day of instruction for students.   To take the place of our Open House, I have asked the teachers of each grade level cohort to collaborate and create a video or a document to introduce themselves and share any important back to school information with you.  Please be on the lookout for that the week of August 24th.  With the cancellation of our Open House, pictures will be rescheduled for late September or early October.  We will send that information out as soon as a date is decided. We are looking at doing something as far as an Open House for the incoming Early Childhood/4K students and will communicate that with you as soon as it is planned.     Once we have all the data from the 20-21 reopening parent survey, we will more than likely need to revisit the class lists.  I am planning to send out teacher notification letters the week Aug. 24. In the event we would have to move to 100% virtual, or if your child would need to quarantine, it would be a good idea for you to have a back-up plan as far as childcare if you don't already have one. Take care, enjoy the remainder of your summer, and I will stay in touch with any new information. Mr. Franzwa

MESSAGE FOR PARENTS WITH STUDENTS ATTENDING SUMMER SCHOOL (Aug. 3-14). Dear Parents/Guardians, I hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy. Summer school for last year's 4K-8th graders starts in one week, Aug. 3rd, and runs until Friday, August 14th. Although things will be very different, we are really excited to welcome students back into the building. Here is some more information that I would like you to be aware of: Please send your child to school with some sort of a water bottle. The water fountains will be shut off during summer school. No visitors will be allowed in the school - only students and staff. The main entrance to the elementary (door #29/ramp entrance) will be off limits due to construction during summer school. If you plan on dropping your child off, please drop them off on Mill street and staff will be there to guide them into the building. The designated drop off area will be between the "little buffalo" and the entrance to the new bus drive. This will also be the area where you can wait to pick up your child at the end of each day. Students that are dropped off, walkers, and students that ride their bike will enter the building through door #28 at the end of the 4K/5K hallway. Don't forget that Mill Street from North Jackson to State Street is one way now (west bound). I will be sending out a few more messages very soon. One regarding some changes to our transportation pick up/drop off times, and another one explaining some health information from our school nurse. Don't hesitate to contact the elementary office (715-926-3645) if you have any questions. You can also email me (pfranzwa@mondovi.k12.wi.us) or Leah (lbursaw@mondovi.k12.wi.us) if you have questions. Thanks- Mr. Franzwa

The School District of Mondovi would like your input regarding the start of the 2020-2021 school year. There are numerous decisions yet to be made as to what the start of the school year will look like. The District will be continuing to follow DPI (Department of Public Instruction), DHS (Department of Health Services), CDC (Centers for Disease Control), and Coulee Compass recommendations in our planning for this fall. Depending on the risk levels and guidelines, we are currently planning for several options including: face-to-face instruction; at-home learning; and blended learning (a combination of classroom instruction and at-home learning). The information you provide us through this survey https://tinyurl.com/yc22dx7c will help guide our decisions and will help us develop a plan for the reopening of schools while doing what is possible to mitigate risk. If you have trouble opening the survey, try copying and posting this link to your browser: https://tinyurl.com/yc22dx7c

Just a reminder that next Friday, July 17 is the cut off date to register for summer school. We will be running face-to-face summer school from August 3-14. Free breakfast and lunch will be offered each day, and the district will also be providing transportation (normal summer school routes). If your child is entering 5K, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade, you should have received a ‘Bridging” registration form in the mail. Please contact the Elementary Office if you didn’t receive one. Students entering 4th-8th grade will register for one of our four “Clusters.” You can access that registration form by going to the School District of Mondovi’s homepage, click on the elementary school, and the registration form can be found when you hover over the summer school tab. Don’t forget to fill out the transportation information if your child plans to ride the bus. Completed registration forms that are mailed back must be postmarked no later than Friday, July 17. We will be closing registration as soon as we reach 15 students per class. We have four classes in a cluster - so no more than 60 students per cluster, and 2 bridging classes per grade - so no more than 30 students.

MESSAGE FROM THE COOKS: Thursday, May 28th will be the last day of delivery/pickup of school meals. June will be an especially busy time for Mondovi Schools as we are facing a 2 week power shutdown to the old electrical panels. The cafeteria will actually have a 3 week power shut down so they can convert all the big ovens and kettles over to the new system. Thanks to all who participated in the program. It was a privilege and an honor to serve you these last 2½ months. Everyone was so appreciative and understanding. We will miss you all this summer. Special thanks to all the people that donated milk, cheese curds, ice cream treats, and butter. This community rocks! Keep your eyes on Facebook, if everything goes as planned and power is restored there is a good possibility we could start pick-up only meals in July. Stay tuned!

I would like to inform everyone that we will not be allowing outside visitors for today’s (3/13) Pride of the Herd Assembly. This was a difficult decision, but we felt it was in the best interest of our students and their families. Parents of the students being recognized today have been, or will be contacted by our staff. We are deeply sorry to share this news, and want you all to know that we appreciate the support that you provide for your child and our school. Today’s assemblies will be broadcast on Buffalo TV as well the School Facebook page. Here is the link for Buffalo TV https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpfQ54oXfskRUGYZ5UObfXg/live The 3rd-5th grade assembly will be from 2:40-2:55, and the 5K-2nd grade assembly from 3:00-3:15. The PTA has also made the decision to cancel tonight’s PTA Family Bingo Night, and next week’s PTA Book Fair. The Family Bingo Night will not be rescheduled, but we are looking into alternative options for the Book Fair, and we will communicate that with you when we know. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for next week (3/17 & 3/19). At this time we are still planning for conferences to run as scheduled. We will be promoting no hugs/handshakes, disinfecting between conferences, and providing an option for you to call in for your child’s conference if you would like. Please let your child’s teacher know if you plan to call instead of attend in person. Thank you for understanding, and please know that your child’s safety is extremely important to us. March 3, 2020 Dear Parents: We have been notified by the Buffalo County Public Health Department that there is a confirmed case of pertussis (whooping cough) in a student in the Mondovi School District (High School). The Buffalo County Public Health Department has already contacted those people who may have been exposed and they have discussed further evaluation and treatment if needed. There is no correlation between pertussis and the Coronavirus. Pertussis is an illness that spreads easily by the coughing of an infected person. It begins with mild, cold-like symptoms, including cough and runny nose. These first symptoms typically appear 7-20 days after a person is exposed. The cough typically worsens over the following weeks and becomes spasmodic. The cough may be followed by a “whooping” sound. The spasms of cough may be followed by vomiting. Some persons with pertussis may have very mild symptoms (mild cough with no other symptoms) and may not realize that they are sick or contagious. Pertussis can affect anyone; however, it can be most detrimental in infants. In very young babies (less than 6 months old), pertussis can lead to bacterial pneumonia, weight loss, and dehydration. More than half of the babies with confirmed pertussis are hospitalized. Pertussis is treated with an antibiotic. Students who are prescribed antibiotics for pertussis can return to school following the fifth day of treatment. Without antibiotics, a person with pertussis is considered to be contagious for three weeks. It is important that ill students stay at home away from others (especially infants and young children). Pertussis vaccine is administered in combination with diphtheria and tetanus vaccine (DTaP) in a five-dose series and protects children against whooping cough. There is also a booster vaccine (Tdap) for adolescents and adults. Please check with your health care provider to make sure your child’s shots are up-to-date. - Pride of the Herd Clarification - Some questions about our Pride of the Herd Assembly were recently brought to our attention and we would like to take this opportunity to clarify what this recognition is all about. The purpose of our Pride of the Herd award is to help with changing our culture by recognizing the positive things that are happening in our school each day. We are trying to see the good in every student with this award. Every one of us experience times in our day when things are going good, and times that are challenging. As you know, we implemented a program called Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) a number of years ago, and one of things we learned through our training was that the most effective way to change a behavior is through positive reinforcement. In fact, research suggests that for every negative or corrective response to a students’ behavior should be balanced with five positives. We have had two Pride of the Herd assemblies so far this year and have recognized some pretty amazing behaviors by our students. All staff members: Support Staff, Specialists, and Classroom Teachers, as well as Students, have nominated Mondovi Elementary students for the Pride of the Herd Award. Students are nominated for a variety of things: academic growth or achievement, behavioral growth, kindness, etc. Our hope is to bring out the best in our students by recognizing them for the great things that they do each and every day. Your questions and concerns are always welcomed, and are used to help us reflect and improve. Thank you for your support and PLEASE don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions and/or feedback.

The area on the school side of Mill Street, in front of and between both wings (entrance #29 and #32), will be marked with signs reading: “Drop Off Only.” We will refer to that as our “stop and go” area. That means that anyone that would like to pull up to the curb, drop their child off, stay in their vehicle, and continue driving should use this area. There will be no parking in the area to the immediate east and west of our “stop and go” area. To the east, it is currently under construction. To west, it is marked with no parking signs during school hours up to the tennis courts. There is parking on the school side of Mill Street further to the east of the construction area (along side the cafeteria), and to the west, alongside the tennis courts and beyond. We will refer to that as our “stop and stay” area. That means anyone that would like to pull up to the curb, park their car, get out and walk into the school with their child should use this area. The entire curbside area on Mill Street opposite of the school is also a “stop and stay” area. Please pay attention to the street signs in our “stop and stay” areas as some of them are marked as 30 minute parking during school hours. Also be aware of the crosswalks in both our “stop and go” and “stop and stay” areas. It is important for student safety that you don’t block them when you park. These parking procedures will work the same way in the evening for student pick up. If you are going to use the “stop and go” area for a student pick up, please make sure that you can see your child and that your stop is brief. For the safety of our students, please adhere to the posted speed limit signs on Mill Street.

We would like to thank our community for their interest and passion surrounding our State Report grade this year - it shows how much you care about the academic success of our students! As laid out in the Thursday, November 21, Mondovi Herald “Notes From School” section, Report Card ratings are based on four priority areas: 1) Student achievement in English language arts and mathematics, 2) Student growth in English language arts and mathematics, 3) Closing gaps between student populations in English language arts, mathematics, and graduation rates, and 4) Measures of readiness for graduation and postsecondary success in the areas of graduation rates, attendance rates, 3rd grade English language arts achievement, and 8th grade mathematics achievement. Additionally, schools and districts can have point deductions for failing to meet targets for student engagement indicators of test participation (ACT, ACT Aspire, Forward Exam, Badger Exam, Dynamic Learning Maps), absenteeism, and dropout rates. Although our district report card score has been in the “Meeting Expectations” or “Exceeding Expectations” range since 2015, we are aware that we have some work to do, and are already having conversations and putting supports in place to improve these scores. Some of the work that is already happening pertains to revisiting and revising curriculum, looking at Scope and Sequence, Professional Learning Community (PLC) weekly meetings, schedule changes, course offerings, etc. We have been addressing this trend since last year, and will continue to do so. While the Report Card score is important to us, we are also looking at the national research around our “Redefining Ready” criteria - College Ready, Career Ready, and Life Ready - to address the whole student and ensure success in their post-high school endeavors. Please refer to the November 21 Mondovi Herald “Notes From School” for all the specific details of the research-based metrics. If you would like to have further discussion to more deeply understand all the data behind either the school or district report cards, feel free to reach out to any of our Administrative Team members to schedule an appointment.

The Mondovi Elementary needs volunteers to help with Target Time. Target Time is a portion of the students’ day where they receive instructional support at their level. The commitment for a volunteer is typically 1/2 hour once a week. Target Time volunteers help with a variety of tasks. Some of those include: listening to students read, leading a small group, and working with individual students. Please contact the elementary office (pfranzwa@mondovi.k12.wi.us or 715-926-3645) if you are interested in volunteering. Thank you!

This spring the Elementary Music Program was given a grant from the Elementary PTA Staff Wish List Fund for a Classroom set of Ukuleles. Soon after, these students built a moveable storage unit in their High School Woods II class. A BIG thank you to the PTA and these students!! #mondovipride

Mondovi showcased their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills at the West Central/St. Croix Valley tournament in Hudson this weekend. Middle School placed 3rd with their clever Candyland-themed skit and will be heading to UW-Green Bay for State April 13th to represent our district! Elementary placed 4th, earning a Renaissance Award for “outstanding set design”. Great job to both teams! #mondovipride
