Dear Parents and Guardians,
Summer School Starts this coming Monday, August 3rd. With the recent decision by Governor Evers, everyone that is 5 and older will need to wear a face covering while attending summer school. Looking forward to seeing the students in school again. Have a great weekend everyone!

Here are two links with information pertaining to summer school. The first one is some health information from our school nurse (Mrs. Poeschel), and the second one is updated bus routes from our transportation director (Mr. Gray). I would also like to inform you that I have been working with the custodians and we have a plan to disinfect the classrooms, bathrooms, and entrances each day. Mr. Gray is also planning to have each bus disinfected after every route (AM/PM). Please contact me if you have any questions.

MESSAGE FOR PARENTS WITH STUDENTS ATTENDING SUMMER SCHOOL (Aug. 3-14).
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy. Summer school for last year's 4K-8th graders starts in one week, Aug. 3rd, and runs until Friday, August 14th. Although things will be very different, we are really excited to welcome students back into the building. Here is some more information that I would like you to be aware of:
Please send your child to school with some sort of a water bottle. The water fountains will be shut off during summer school.
No visitors will be allowed in the school - only students and staff.
The main entrance to the elementary (door #29/ramp entrance) will be off limits due to construction during summer school. If you plan on dropping your child off, please drop them off on Mill street and staff will be there to guide them into the building. The designated drop off area will be between the "little buffalo" and the entrance to the new bus drive. This will also be the area where you can wait to pick up your child at the end of each day. Students that are dropped off, walkers, and students that ride their bike will enter the building through door #28 at the end of the 4K/5K hallway.
Don't forget that Mill Street from North Jackson to State Street is one way now (west bound).
I will be sending out a few more messages very soon. One regarding some changes to our transportation pick up/drop off times, and another one explaining some health information from our school nurse.
Don't hesitate to contact the elementary office (715-926-3645) if you have any questions. You can also email me (pfranzwa@mondovi.k12.wi.us) or Leah (lbursaw@mondovi.k12.wi.us) if you have questions.
Thanks-
Mr. Franzwa
Update on the 20-21 teacher notification letters. I am planning to send them out after the Aug. 12th school board meeting . We had a recent resignation (4th grade Mrs. Suehring) and I am hoping to have everything in place by that time.
2020-2021 School District of Mondovi Reopening Timeline https://5il.co/ijah
We are extending the window to register for two of our summer school classes - Cluster A and Cluster B. The deadline to register will be Monday, July 27. You can contact Mr. Franzwa or Mrs. Bursaw by phone (715) 926-3645 or email (pfranzwa@mondovi.k12.wi.us lbursaw@mondovi.k12.wi.us) if you have questions or need assistance with registering. Cluster A has four classes: Elementary Design and Construction, Fundamentals of Sports in the American Culture, Outdoor Adventures, and Stem Exploration. The four classes for Cluster B are: Accelerated Reading, Art Attack, Math in the Kitchen, and Reading and Creative Dramatics. If you would like more information on these classes, please go to the Mondovi Homepage, under schools click on Mondovi Elementary, then click on the summer school tab, and then on 2020 summer school book.
The School District of Mondovi would like your input regarding the start of the 2020-2021 school year. There are numerous decisions yet to be made as to what the start of the school year will look like. The District will be continuing to follow DPI (Department of Public Instruction), DHS (Department of Health Services), CDC (Centers for Disease Control), and Coulee Compass recommendations in our planning for this fall. Depending on the risk levels and guidelines, we are currently planning for several options including: face-to-face instruction; at-home learning; and blended learning (a combination of classroom instruction and at-home learning). The information you provide us through this survey https://tinyurl.com/yc22dx7c will help guide our decisions and will help us develop a plan for the reopening of schools while doing what is possible to mitigate risk. If you have trouble opening the survey, try copying and posting this link to your browser: https://tinyurl.com/yc22dx7c
Reminder - If you live within 2 miles of the school, you must pick up the free meals, we will not deliver. Thank you!
Just a reminder that next Friday, July 17 is the cut off date to register for summer school. We will be running face-to-face summer school from August 3-14. Free breakfast and lunch will be offered each day, and the district will also be providing transportation (normal summer school routes). If your child is entering 5K, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade, you should have received a ‘Bridging” registration form in the mail. Please contact the Elementary Office if you didn’t receive one. Students entering 4th-8th grade will register for one of our four “Clusters.” You can access that registration form by going to the School District of Mondovi’s homepage, click on the elementary school, and the registration form can be found when you hover over the summer school tab. Don’t forget to fill out the transportation information if your child plans to ride the bus. Completed registration forms that are mailed back must be postmarked no later than Friday, July 17. We will be closing registration as soon as we reach 15 students per class. We have four classes in a cluster - so no more than 60 students per cluster, and 2 bridging classes per grade - so no more than 30 students.

MONDOVI SCHOOL DISTRICT 2020-2021 4K REGISTRATION
If your child will be turning 4 years old by September 1, 2020, and lives in the School District of Mondovi, he/she is eligible to enroll in the district’s 4-Year-Old Kindergarten program. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to conduct Child Development Days this year. All necessary paperwork typically given out at Child Development Days was, instead, mailed to families with 4K eligible children. Please mail the completed forms back to school AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so your child can become enrolled. If you have not received any paperwork and have a 4K eligible child, please contact Leah at school (715-926-3645 or lbursaw@mondovi.k12.wi.us) to receive the proper paperwork. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact school principal Paul Franzwa (715-926-3645 or pfranzwa@mondovi.k12.wi.us). We look forward to meeting our youngest Mondovi Buffaloes this fall! #mondovipride
Mondovi Elementary School-Message of the Week
May 31-June 6, 2020

Mondovi Elementary Birthday Wishes

Just a reminder that our final pick up/drop off event is this Thursday, June 4th. It will be on Mill Street once again and there are two scheduled times (11:00-1:00 and 4:00-6:00). If you can't make either of these times work, please work with your child's teacher or the Elem. office to schedule a time. Please remember to bring back Chromebooks, chargers, library or classroom books, and paper/pencil packets this Thursday if you have them. Teachers will be handing out PTA Color Run Prizes, Summer Reading Incentive packets and yearbooks. Please spread the word - and we will see you Thursday!
MESSAGE FROM THE COOKS:
Thursday, May 28th will be the last day of delivery/pickup of school meals. June will be an especially busy time for Mondovi Schools as we are facing a 2 week power shutdown to the old electrical panels. The cafeteria will actually have a 3 week power shut down so they can convert all the big ovens and kettles over to the new system.
Thanks to all who participated in the program. It was a privilege and an honor to serve you these last 2½ months. Everyone was so appreciative and understanding. We will miss you all this summer.
Special thanks to all the people that donated milk, cheese curds, ice cream treats, and butter. This community rocks!
Keep your eyes on Facebook, if everything goes as planned and power is restored there is a good possibility we could start pick-up only meals in July. Stay tuned!
